  • Published Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at 12 a.m.

Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.

For a complete list of You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta/.

The record: An annual report by the Kansas Corporation Commission to the Kansas Legislature about the availability of broadband across the state. The report is required by state law.

Why you’d want it: To learn more about broadband accessibility in Kansas, including the number of providers.

Where you get it: www.kcc.state.ks.us. From the home page, click on the “Broadband Availability Report” on the right-hand side of the page.
