Two people were found dead Friday after Wichita police responded to a report of shots fired at the Dollar General store northwest of 13th and Oliver.

Wichita Deputy Police Chief Nelson Mosley said the victims’ cause of death was still unknown late Friday.

Mosley gave this account:

Officers discovered the victims inside the store at 4610 E. 13th St., in the Providence Square shopping center, shortly after 8:10 p.m. After clearing people out of the store, officers found that they could not determine how the victims died.

Mosley did not say how many people were inside the store at the time or whether the victims were store employees, customers or someone else. He did not release the victims’ ages or genders.

Police were searching the parking lot around the building and in trash cans for evidence.

Mosley said police were interviewing people at City Hall late Friday, but declined to provide further details. He said police had no suspects.

No one else was injured, Mosley said. “We don’t have a lot of information. We’re still in this investigation,” he said. “ … Right now, we’re looking at who’s who, if there’s any history with anyone out there, and we’re examining everything.”
