Woman pistol-whipped during home robbery

Two men burst into a house in west Wichita early Thursday morning, demanding to see a man who lived there, police said.

When they couldn’t find him, they hit a woman and then stole money and property. The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. in the 100 block of South Nevada, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. That’s northwest of Maple and West streets.

The intruders, both black men in their 30s, were looking for a 25-year-old man who lives at the house, Schroeder said. They stole a purse, a cellphone and a television.

Two women, ages 49 and 24, and three young children — ages 12, 3 and 9 months — were inside the house at the time of the robbery, Schroeder said. The 24-year-old woman was pistol-whipped during the crime and may have suffered a broken nose. She was treated at the scene, but did not require transport to a local hospital.

The first suspect is 5-foot-11 and has a slim build, victims told police. He wore a bandanna on his face, black clothing and eye glasses.

The second suspect has a large build and wore a navy blue zip-up hooded sweatshirt and a black bandanna over his face, police said.

They left the area in a gold, four-door Cadillac.
