A federal judge will decide if an expert in kinky sex may testify in the trial of a Missouri couple accused of keeping a young woman as a sex slave.

U.S. District Judge Dean Whipple was scheduled to hear arguments Thursday from lawyers for 45-year-old Edward Bagley and his 47-year-old wife, Marilyn.

The two are accused of keeping a young woman in their rural Lebanon home against her will while she served as Ed Bagley’s sex slave.

Defense attorneys say jurors need the expert to explain to jurors why someone would voluntarily take part in what might be considered extreme, painful sex acts.

Prosecutors say it doesn’t matter what is considered normal if the alleged victim didn’t consent to being part of it.
