Sophomore Chelsea Gardner had 26 points and 10 rebounds as the 20th-ranked Kansas women beat Grambling State 101-47 on Wednesday night in Lawrence.
Sophomore Asia Boyd added 15 points and 10 rebounds and Natalie Knight scored 13 for KU, which improved to 6-0.
Grambling scored the game’s first 10 points in the opening 2 minutes, 36 seconds. KU responded with a 19-4 run to take the lead with 12 minutes left in the half. Knight scored seven points during that opening run. KU stretched its lead to 42-29 at halftime, then outscored Grambling 59-18 in the second half.
The Jayhawks finished with a 53-30 rebound advantage and forced 25 Grambling turnovers. Knight was the only KU starter to play more than 20 minutes — she played 22.
Kansas returns to action Sunday at home against Minnesota.
