Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
This couple with four children is reeling from medical bills.
When she was pregnant with twins, she was on bed rest most of the time.
The portion of their accumulated medical bills for the past year and a half is $8,000
The father has, at times, worked three jobs trying to catch up. He is also going to college to become a special education teacher. Next semester, he will be a student teacher and has had to cut back on the number of hours he can work. The mother stays at home, due to the expense and lack of childcare.
She heard about Share the Season from her aunt.
When I applied, I thought maybe they will see me. Maybe they wont. I bet millions of people apply, the mother said.
When the Share the Season caseworker called, the mother was thrilled.
I was thinking that they might help me with the electric bill, she said. But they were also able to also put money towards some of the medical bills. In our time of need, Share the Season helped us this year.
Share the Season has raised $58,755 so far.
