Open house to celebrate Great Plains Nature Center

Artists and their artwork will be featured as the Great Plains Nature Center celebrates “Final Friday” with an open house.

The event is from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 30th at the center, 6232 E 29th Street North Street in Wichita.

Artists who participated in the “Art on the Trail” will be featured and a postcard selected from the winning artwork will be available for purchase along with other artwork during the open house.

Area artists include Dennis McKay, Kay Rogers, Joie Hall Vitkus, Jan Butler, Sharon Leiker , Alan Brooks, Cheryl Lindstrom and Bonnie Tymeson. The postcard featured was created by Vitkus and is a painting of the Great Plains Nature Center.

Jim Mason, the Great Plains Nature Center naturalist and author of “Wichita,” will also be at the open house signing copies of his book.

The center’s gift shop will be open for holiday shopping with a 15 percent discount on all merchandise.
