An 18-year-old Hutchinson woman has been taken by air ambulance to a Wichita hospital after a car hit her Tuesday morning while she was walking across a street, police said.
She was being treated at Wesley Medical Center for hip injuries, Hutchinson police Sgt. Brian Hirt said in an e-mail.
The accident occurred at 7:43 a.m. while the 18-year-old was crossing in the 500 block of East 11th Avenue, Hirt said.
A 17-year-old whose vehicle struck the 18-year-old had passed another vehicle that stopped for the pedestrian, Hirt said.
“Speed, texting, alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been a factor in the collision,” his e-mail said.
