A 62-year-old man called police to tell them he saw his 86-year-old neighbor’s house being burglarized and then chased the burglars with a pitchfork.

The incident happened at about 9:40 a.m. on Saturday in the 2600 block of South Cheyenne, southwest of Pawnee and Hillside, according to Wichita police Sgt. Scott Brunow.

When police arrived at the location, they found two suspects hiding – a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old man. They were positively identified and booked for burglary, Brunow said.

The neighbor’s house had been ransacked.

“It looked like they had gone through everything,” Brunow said.

The person whose house was burglarized was not at home.
