A Wichita company will have a hand in greeting train passengers arriving in Baltimores Pennsylvania Station.
Incite LED Media Group, through its Chinese partner QST LED, is providing the 8-foot-high by 15-foot-long high-resolution LED digital billboard, said Kirk McNabb, principal of Incite, in an interview Thursday.
The billboard will be placed at track level at the train station, which is the eighth busiest train station in Amtraks national network.
In fiscal year 2012, ending Sept. 30, more than 1 million travelers passed through Baltimores Penn Station, according to a joint news release about the billboard project from Amtrak, the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore and Visit Baltimore.
Downtown Partnership and Visit Baltimore are funding the billboard project.
McNabb, whose company will have two digital billboards operational in Baton Rouge, La., in the next month and with more planned for Louisiana and Texas credits his business relationship with a Baltimore business owner for the Penn Station job. McNabb said his relationship with Ryan Doak of NV3 in Baltimore led to his participation in the project. That relationship, McNabb said, started by way of connecting with Doak through the social media site LinkedIn.
Doak, managing partner of NV3, said he and McNabb have known each other for about three years. Doak said on the Penn Station job his company was contracted as a video consultant to procure the screen and configure and coordinate the digital sign as well as to manage the content of the images on the billboard.
The (video) content hasnt been decided, but the overall intent is to promote activities and events happening in the city, Doak said.
