Jessica Diamond scored 20 points and led Wichita State’s women’s basketball team to a 60-51 victory over Arkansas State on Thursday night in Jonesboro, Ark.
WSU (1-1) never trailed, and led by as much as 17 points midway through the first half, but never knocked out Arkansas State (0-3). Wichita State forced 13 turnovers in the first half and led 31-23 at the break.
Jazimen Gordon had 13 points, seven rebounds and five steals for the Shockers. WSU outrebounded Arkansas State 34-27.
WSU plays its home-opener 1t 1 p.m. Sunday against Texas-San Antonio.
