The driver of a getaway car in the June robbery of a southeast Wichita Kentucky Fried Chicken has pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting, federal prosecutors announced Tuesday.
James L. Adamson, 49, of Wichita, admitted to driving the car when his co-defendant, Paul F. Sifuentez, allegedly robbed the restaurant, 1251 S. Woodlawn, on June 7, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said in a news release. Court records show Adamson later abandoned the car — with personalized tag “SAVOY” — at 7025 E. Lincoln.
His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 30.
Sifuentez, the co-defendant in the case, is awaiting trial, according to Grissom’s office. The 55-year-old Wichitan is charged with one count each of robbery, brandishing a firearm during a violent crime and unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. He is also charged with a single count of discharging a firearm at a police officer.
Courts documents show Sifuentez pointed a handgun at a Wichita police officer and fired three times, shattering the glass on the police car door, Grissom said.
