ITC Great Plains to start work on second half of power line

ITC Great Plains will Mark the start of construction on its portion of the Kansas V-Plan Transmission Line Project near Medicine Lodge on Wednesday.

It will be the second phase of a 345,000-volt power line that reaches from Wichita to Spearville, near Dodge City.

The ITC Great Plains portion will stretch 122 miles through Barber, Kiowa, Clark and Ford counties

The power line will run at a height of 100 to 150 feet and will be held up by structures spaced about every 1/6 of a mile.
