A robber with dreadlocks and a missing finger stole cash from a man fixing a car at his home Friday afternoon, according to Wichita police.

The robber approached the man, 49, from behind about 1:40 p.m. outside of a residence in the 400 block of N. Ash, Wichita police Sgt. Bart Brunscheen said. He then “put a sharp object in” the 49-year-old’s back and demanded money.

The man gave an unknown amount of cash to the robber, who then ran to the south, Brunscheen said.

Police described the suspect as an approximately 50-year-old black man with dreadlocked hair who is missing an index finger. He is about 5-foot-9, weighs about 200 pounds and wore a white shirt and blue jeans during the robbery.

The victim told police he did not know his attacker, Brunscheen said.
