Wichita State volleyball player Sam Sanders looked fine in last Thursday’s practice. On Friday, she couldn’t raise her right arm above her head.
Sanders, a junior right-side hitter, was scheduled to see a doctor Monday afternoon. Coach Chris Lamb said pain near her shoulder sidelined her for weekend matches at Illinois State and Indiana State.
“It’s a mystery,” he said.
WSU had more than Sanders’ injury bothering it on the road trip that featured a win over Indiana State and a loss to Illinois State. Setter Chelsey Feekin and middle Ashley Andrade fell ill, Lamb said. Lamb said both players felt better on Monday.
“It was brutal,” he said.
WSU plays Missouri State on Friday at Koch Arena, its lone match this week.
