Two people were shot early Sunday morning near Pawnee and the Arkansas River when occupants of two passing cars began firing at each other, said Wichita police Sgt. Scott Brunow.

A house in the 400 block of West Blake also was struck by rounds during the shooting, but no one was injured.

The victims of the shooting, which happened at around 12:35 a.m., were a 16-year-old man and a 17-year-old man. Both were transported to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis for treatment. Police did not know their conditions.

The car that included the victims also contained men ages 16, 17, 18 and 19.
