SMALL COLLEGES Lindenwood ends Gorillas’ hopes of defending title

Garden City (6-3) at No. 2 Butler (9-0), 1:30 p.m. — The Grizzlies stomped the Broncbusters 84-13 in El Dorado on Oct. 4.

Coffeyville (6-3) at No. 13 Hutchinson (7-2), 1:30 p.m. — Hutch beat Coffeyville 58-26 in the season opener.

Lindenwood defeated No. 18 Pittsburg State 44-33 on Saturday at Pittsburg, knocking the Gorillas out of the NCAA Division II playoff picture and ending Pittsburg State’s hopes of defending its’ national title.

Ranked No. 1 in the country less than a month ago, the Gorillas have lost three of four games.
