A woman was attacked and robbed at gunpoint in a strip mall in southeast Wichita Thursday night, police said.

The 43-year-old woman told police the man robbed her and then kicked her in the back several times, a police report states. The attack occurred at about 9:20 p.m. Thursday in a strip mall in the 800 block of South Woodlawn, which is just north of Lincoln, Lt. Doug Nolte said.

She told police her attacker was a black or Hispanic man in his mid-20s, Nolte said. He is about 5-feet-9 and 140 pounds. He has a tattoo on his neck and wore a white shirt and blue jeans.

The victim told police he looked like a man who has attempted to fight her neighbor’s boyfriend in the past, according to a police report on the incident. She was taken to Via Christi Hospital on East Harry for treatment of her injuries.

Earlier reports that the robbery occurred inside a business were incorrect. Nolte said police do not think this case is connected to the robbery of the Dollar General store at the same strip mall an hour earlier, because the suspect descriptions are not similar.
