Local dance competition continues
Local dance studio Care to Dance is providing a spin-off competition of the hit TV show Dancing With The Stars at 8 p.m. Friday at Heroes Sports Bar, 117 N. Mosley in Old Town. This week will be this seasons third competition and first elimination. Dancers will compete for a $1,000 prize to be donated to the charity of their choice. In its ninth season, Dancing with the Local Stars consists of four contestants in a month-long competition, with the final competition Nov. 16. There is no cover charge. Rob Schneider at the Loony Bin
Comedic actor Rob Schneider will perform at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Loony Bin Comedy Club, 6140 E. 21st St. Schneider released his first comedy album, Registered Offender, in 2010 to coincide with his return to stand-up comedy after nearly two decades. He is known for films including The Animal, 50 First Dates and The Longest Yard. Doors open at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. The show is for those 18 and up. Jenn Grinels at Oeno
Indie singer-songwriter Jenn Grinels will perform with Kansas City native Merideth Kaye Clark at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Oeno Wine Bar, 330 N. Mead. Grinels, whose sound includes soul, blues, jazz and folk rock, began touring in 2007 and has released two albums, Little Words and brokenHEARTbreaker.
