A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with injuries sustained by his girlfriend’s 11-month-old son earlier this week, authorities said.
The boy was brought to Via Christi Hospital on East Harry on Tuesday afternoon with “severe head trauma,” Lt. Doug Nolte said. Hospital staff contacted 911 after the stories given to explain how the child was hurt weren’t consistent with the nature of his injuries.
The child was transferred to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis, where he is in “extremely critical condition,” Nolte said. The Exploited and Missing Child Unit was called in and launched an investigation.
The mother’s boyfriend was arrested Wednesday afternoon at EMCU offices following questioning.
