The city of Wichita, Westar Energy and the Sedgwick County Zoo are teaming up again to offer free firewood and wood chips beginning Thursday.
The wood, which is left over from work trimming around power lines and in public places, will be in the north parking lot of the zoo, 5555 Zoo Blvd., through February.
You can pick it up weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. It normally is delivered sometime between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. daily.
Zoo officials said Thursday morning that none had been delivered yet, but was expected later in the day.
No sawing, splitting or mechanical equipment is allowed at the zoo. For questions about wood delivery, call 316-261-6581.
