Kobach preparing voter turnout prediction

  • Published Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at 7:26 a.m.

— Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is preparing to announce his prediction for voter turnout in Tuesday’s election.

Kobach is presiding over a general election for the first time since he took office in January 2011. He planned to disclose his forecast at a news conference Thursday.

One factor in Kansas turnout next week will be the absence of any statewide races. All four of the state’s U.S. House members are seeking re-election, but only the 2nd District and 4th District have contested races.

All 125 seats of the Kansas House and all 40 seats in the state Senate are being contested. Five of the 10 seats on the State Board of Education are on the ballot, but only three are contested.
