Thunder loses at Bloomington

Bloomington scored four power-play goals and beat the Wichita Thunder 6-4 on Friday night in Bloomington, Ill.

The Thunder build a 3-1 lead in the first peiod on goals from Kevin Young, Ian Lowe and Chad Painchaud.

Bloomington scored with a two-man advantage late in the opening period, then added two power-play goals in the second period to go ahead 4-3. The Thunder tied to score on Lowe’s second power-play goal of the night at 7:44 of the third period, but Bloomington regained the lead 92 seconds later and yet another power-play goal, this one by Tyler Gron. The Blaze put the game away with an empty-net goal in the final minute.

In all, Bloomington was successful on 4 of 7 power plays; the Thunder scored on 3 of 6. Young had two assists in addition to his goal.

The teams play again tonight. The Thunder completes a three-game stretch on Sunday at Quad City.
