The Kansas Cosmosphere will celebrate the grand opening of its Carey Digital Dome Theater with special events from 2 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cosmosphere, 1100 N. Plum in Hutchinson. Renovations have been under way for a month and a half, and with an upgraded digital projection system, the theater will show documentaries and full-length films. It also offers a new concession stand.

A ribbon cutting is planned for 8 a.m. Friday.

Saturday’s activities will include a moon bounce, a dinosaur-egg hunt and face painting from 2 to 7 p.m., followed by a zombie walk from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Hall of Space Museum. Visitors will need a flashlight. Visitors in costume will receive $1 off of popcorn at the new theater.

Activities are free with the purchase of a movie ticket to the theater. Or admission is $5 per person for the activities and $5 per person for the zombie walk. For more information, call 800-397-0330 or visit www.cosmo.org. For show times, see Page 9D.
