Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the reason for Wagoner's release on Oct. 18

A man found naked inside of a Wichita woman’s bedroom last weekend made his first appearance in court Tuesday, the District Attorney’s Office said.

Shane Paul Wagoner, 24, faces aggravated kidnapping, sexual battery and burglary charges, D.A. spokeswoman Georgia Cole said, for allegedly entering a southeast Wichita home and attacking its female resident Saturday evening.

Wagoner, who was unclothed according to police accounts, allegedly tackled the woman around 5:45 p.m. when she tried to leave the house, located in the 1100 block of South Lulu, near Hydraulic and Lincoln. After multiple escape attempts, she got away and called 911. Wagoner was arrested shortly after 7:30 p.m. Saturday following a nearly two-hour standoff with authorities, police said.

He is held in Sedgwick County Jail on $250,000 bond, Cole said.

His preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 6.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Wagoner's sentence expired Oct. 18 after serving prison time for burglaries committed in Lyon County in June and July of 2008. He was also convicted of aggravated escape from custody in 2009 following a flight attempt.
