Cynthia Colbert, director of Catholic Charities for the Wichita Diocese, is leaving Wichita to become the director of Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, the Wichita organization said in a news release Monday.

Colbert has led the Wichita agency for the past 21/2 years. She starts her new job in January.

The group’s board of directors will meet Wednesday to determine how to find the next director.

Since Colbert has been the director of Wichita’s Catholic Charities, she has led more than 14 programs that have helped more than 16,000 families in crisis. She has also developed a five-year strategic plan for Catholic Charities.
