A Wichita man was seriously injured when he was stabbed during an argument early Monday morning, authorities said.

The stabbing occurred at about 3:45 a.m. in the 1700 block of South Main, Wichita police Lt. Joe Schroeder said. That’s a few blocks south of Harry.

The 36-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times in the torso with an unknown object, Schroeder said. He was taken to Via Christi Hospital on St. Francis.

“He went straight into surgery,” Schroeder said.

Investigators were able to talk to the victim briefly, he said, and learned the suspect goes by the name of Chad. The suspect was not on the scene when officers arrived. It’s not clear yet what prompted the argument that preceded the stabbing, Schroeder said.

Officers are looking for the suspect now.
