Home Expo this weekend
The Fall Home Remodeling & Decorating Expo produced by RJ Promotions is this weekend at Century II. Admission is free. The show will feature booths of products for upgrading the home, along with antiques appraisals (two per person), the Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleaders, a “Get Hammered” contest and prizes. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, go to the website www.wichitahomeremodelingshow.com.
Buy, plant daffodils
If you want flowers in your garden come early spring, it’s time to plant bulbs, including tulips and daffodils. The Wichita Daffodil Society will have its sale of daffodil bulbs, including new varieties and those not found in nurseries, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Botanica. Admission to the sale is free. Because of the economy, bulbs are being priced even less than last year – $1 to $5 for a sack of two to three bulbs.
Among the featured varieties is the very fragrant Mike Pollock, related to paperwhite narcissus but hardy in the garden, with yellow petals and an orange cup, and Meldrum, a big vigorous yellow-trumpet daffodil. There will also be pink, white and miniature daffodils among the 100 varieties. Be there at 10 for the best selection.
