Wichita State’s volleyball team dropped the first set, then rallied to beat Southern Illinois 3-1 on Friday night in Carbondale, Ill.
The first set was tied 22-22, but SIU won three of the final four points to take the set. WSU won the final three sets 25-18, 25-15, 25-20.
Emily Adney had 21 kills and a .514 attack percentage for the Shockers, and added three service aces. Ashley Andrade had 11 kills in 16 swings and added five blocks. Setter Chelsey Feekin had 49 assists, 10 digs and seven kills. The Shockers hit .372 as a team.
In the second set, kills by Sam Sanders and Elizabeth Field gave WSU a 14-10 lead. Adney closed on the set with a kill.
Adney had back-to-back aces in the third set to make it 8-5. A 6-0 run gave WSU a 17-8 lead, and Feekin ended the set with consecutive kills.
Ashlyn Driskill had consecutive kills for an 8-6 lead in the fourth set. The match ended on kills by Andrade and Adney.
WSU (15-5, 8-2 MVC) remains in third place in the conference, a game behind Northern Iowa. Southern Illinois fell to 16-5, 6-4. The Shockers play at Evansville on Saturday.
