The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is asking motorists to avoid I-35 just south of Blackwell because of a multi-car accident caused by blowing dust.
A posting on the patrol’s Facebook page said high winds and blowing dust have caused near blackout conditions. It said visibility had been reduced to less than 10 feet.
Traffic in both directions on I-35 is closed, as of 2:45 p.m. Friday. Blackwell is just south of the Kansas state line.
