A $1.5 million gift from the Kansas Health Foundation to the University of Kansas Endowment will target KU’s new School of Public Health, foundation and KU officials said Thursday in a news release.

The gift will help grow and enhance leadership at the School of Public Health, which the state Board of Regents approved in 2010. The school will be active at KU campuses in Kansas City, Wichita, Salina, Lawrence and Overland Park. According to a news release, the school will foster research, education, and service among the state’s public universities, the public health practice community, and other public health agencies in Kansas.

The gift is part of KU’s “Far Above: The Campaign for Kansas” fundraising campaign.

The Kansas Health Foundation, based in Wichita, is a private foundation dedicated to improving the health of all Kansans.
