Police have arrested the ex-boyfriend of a 19-year-old Wichita woman who was beaten and bitten over the weekend, Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte said Monday.
The beating lasted several hours, Nolte said. It started at about 2 p.m. on Friday when the man, accompanied by another man, broke into the woman’s home in the 200 block of South Kansas. An argument started, the man hit the victim several times in the face and chest, Nolte said. He also bit one of her fingers, drawing blood and causing swelling. She suffered a large knot on the left side of her head, Nolte said.
Eventually she was able fight her way out and get away; she called 911, Nolte said. The man stole several items from the woman, including a cell phone and her wallet, Nolte said.
The man was arrested Saturday at 9:40 a.m. He was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and intimidation, records show.
The second man has not been identified or arrested yet. Police are still seeking information about him, Nolte said.
