Police have arrested a woman who smashed into a gasoline pump with her vehicle Saturday morning, then fled from a south Wichita QuikTrip.

Wichita police Sgt. Jim Merrick said the 40-year-old woman caused $25,000 in fire damage to the convenience store after fuel leaking from the pump ignited. Merrick said the woman “got out and ran away” immediately after the crash. She later was found by officers and arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run.

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday at the QuikTrip at 1532 S. Seneca, near Harry. Fire crews responded to shut off the gas and extinguish the flames, Merrick said.
