Justin Rose fired a 66 on Friday to defeat Lee Westwood in the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final.
Rose, who didn't drop a match during the eight-man event, capped his flawless week with a bogey-free round at the Sultan Course at Antalya Golf Club to dispatch his Ryder Cup teammate by a single shot.
On Thursday, Rose took down Tiger Woods -- also by one stroke -- in the semifinals. The world No. 2 Woods had advanced with a six-shot rout of top- ranked Rory McIlroy in the event's marquee matchup.
Westwood's only two losses in the tournament came at the hands of his Medinah mate. The world No. 4 carded the low round of the week -- 10-under 61 -- against Charl Schwartzel in the semis after ousting reigning U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson earlier Thursday.
In the final, Westwood struggled to maintain the momentum. He had a chance to pull even on No. 9, but instead pulled a short birdie putt left. Later, he missed from in close on both 13 and 14.
Rose took advantage and drained an 18-footer for birdie on No. 17 to take a 2- stroke lead. The effort proved pertinent when Westwood dropped his approach within a few feet on the last and drilled the subsequent birdie putt. Rose, though, 2-putted for par to secure the narrow win.
