Police searching for suspect in early morning shooting

Wichita police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred early Thursday in southeast Wichita. The shooting was reported about 1:20 a.m. in the 800 block of South Drury Lane, which is near Lincoln and Woodlawn.

Lt. Joe Schroeder said the 35-year-old suspect in the case was beating a 29-year-old man with a handgun when the gun discharged, and the bullet hit the younger man in the shoulder. The victim was treated at Wesley Medical Center and later released, Schroeder said.
