Wesley Medical Center has announced it will begin a $36 million reconstruction of its women’s care facility in spring of 2013.

Renovations in the women’s care facility include the postpartum and antepartum units. The 65,000 square foot project will upgrade current facilities and add 16 patient rooms.

“We want women who utilize our facilities to have the very best experience possible,” said Steve Edgar, chief operating officer in a press release. “It’s our mission to provide quality patient care to every patient, every time, but we also want women to feel good about their environment around them and be as comfortable as they can while they are recovering.”

Planning details for the project are slated to be finalized by the end of October. The project will be done in phases to minimize interference with patients.

The renovations are one of several hospital areas that will be completed as part of a capital improvement project, a press release said.
