A man and woman were arrested Sunday night after an incident that saw another man threatened with a shotgun during a dispute over pills.

Wichita police responded to a call at about 11 p.m. in the 3100 block of South Rutan, near Hillside and Pawnee. They found a 34-year-old man in the yard with a cut on his nose, Lt. Doug Nolte said.

The man said he was accused by his roommate, a 63-year-old man, of stealing pills from a 46-year-old woman. The woman is the older man’s girlfriend, according to police.

The woman told her boyfriend to grab a shotgun and point it at the younger man’s head. The older man did so and pulled the trigger twice, Nolte said, but the shotgun didn’t fire. The 63-year-old then struck the man in the head with the barrel of the shotgun, before the victim ran out of the house.

Police arrived and arrested the woman and older man on multiple charges. They also found the shotgun unloaded, Nolte said.
