Wichita police responding to a suicide attempt Sunday night wound up using Tasers to disarm a woman with a sword.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. a woman called police to report that her daughter, 47, had attempted suicide by overdosing on pills at an apartment in the 1000 block of North McLean, police Lt. Doug Nolte said Monday.
When the mother opened the door for police, they found the daughter with a sword. The daughter told police she was going to make them shoot her, Nolte said.
Officers then fired their Tasers, causing her to drop the sword. She was taken to Via Christi Hospital on Harry where she was treated for the overdose.
