27th annual Newton Toy Run coming Oct. 14

The 27th annual Newton Toy Run will rumble through town Oct. 14.

Participants can join the run in Wichita or Newton. The first leg of the event leaves Biker’s Edge, 1201 E. Central in Wichita, at noon. Riders will meet other participants at Newton’s Chisholm Trail Shopping Center, located off of I-135, Exit 28.

The second departure is at 1 p.m. from the shopping center. The ride ends at VFW Post 971, 1610 S.E. Third St. in Newton. An auction and giveaways follow at 2 p.m. at the VFW. Lunch costs $3; buttons are $2.

Participants are asked to donate new, unwrapped toys, which benefit the Salvation Army of Harvey County.
