— Boeing Co. said Thursday that it delivered 12 of its new 787s during the third quarter, as it speeds up production of its newest plane.

The 787 deliveries were double the number Boeing delivered in the second quarter. It’s building the planes both in Everett, Wash., and at a new line in North Charleston, S.C. It’s also delivering previously built planes that needed to be reworked. Boeing has delivered a total of 23 of the planes so far this year.

Other deliveries included 102 of its workhorse 737, eight revamped 747-8s, 20 of its large, long-haul 777s and seven 767s.

On the defense side Boeing delivered 10 new Apache attack helicopters, 18 Chinook cargo helicopters, and 12 F-18 fighter-bomber jets.

Also Thursday, Boeing said unidentified customers had placed orders for 22 737s, one 777, and three 787s. It also lost orders for 12 737s.
