Kids fishing tournament needs adult volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help at a kids fishing tournament Saturday at Spirit Boeing Lake on South Gold Street in Wichita.

The 9 a.m.-2 p.m. event will host kids from local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapters.

Currently about 50 of the kids enrolled aren’t regularly matched with adults, and will need help during the angling part of the event.

Adults assisting kids may fish, but cannot take fish from the well-stocked lake unless they have the proper license.

The event is jointly sponsored by the Spirit/Boeing Employees Association, Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism and several other organizations.

A free barbecue lunch will be provided, as will bait and other fishing equipment if needed.

Please contact Stephanie at 316-522-2996 if you’d like to volunteer.
