Wichita home prices were 0.6 percent higher in August than in August 2011, although they were down 0.5 percent in July compared to July 2011, according to national real estate analytics firm CoreLogic.

Excluding distressed sales, such as short sales, year-over-year prices in Wichita were up 4.7 percent in August and 2.7 percent in July.

Nationally, prices, including distressed sales, increased on a year-over-year basis by 4.6 percent in August. That is the biggest year-over-year increase since 2006, the company said. Prices have been rising for six months, and all but six states have seen price increases, the company said.
