The fourth annual Ryan Woodward Memorial Skate Event will be held Saturday at the Downtown Skate Park, located on St. Francis under Kellogg.

Skateboarders are invited to join the all-day activity, held in honor of Wichita teen Ryan Woodward, who was hit by a car and killed while walking to a local skate park in 2009.

Participants can compete for prizes in three categories: beginners for ages 12 and younger; intermediate for 13 to 17; and advanced for 18 and up.

The cost is $15; onsite registration is available. Raffle tickets will also be sold for $1 each. Proceeds will go to the Ryan Woodward Memorial Fund, which pays for maintenance and improvements to Wichita’s skate parks.

The event is sponsored by City of Wichita Park and Recreation, Cox Communications, Simon Property Group and T-95.
