The results of a year-long effort to stabilize the shoreline in Riverside Park along Stackman Drive across from the Wichita Art Museum will be presented in a free class about maintaining ponds and shorelines on Sept. 29 at the Extension Center.
Students in the Kansas Environmental Leadership Program will present the class, meant for homeowners associations and anyone interested in better managing a shoreline or body of water. The class will address algae, geese, erosion and how to get the neighborhood on the same page.
The class will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Extension Center at 21st and Ridge Road. Afterward, from 11 a.m. to noon, people are invited to go to the Riverside shoreline for a discussion about its restoration, including discouraging geese by planting wildflowers and native grasses.
