A 19-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after he was found with property belonging to an 85-year-old woman who lives nearby, police said.
The woman returned to her home in the 7500 block of East 21st Street, just west of Rock Road, at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and recognized there had been a burglary, Lt. Doug Nolte said. A short time after she made the initial call to 911, she called back to say there was a suspicious character in the area.
Officers responding to the report saw a man running and behaving suspiciously, so they followed him, Nolte said. He attempted to hide in a vacant apartment nearby, but was found and questioned.
When officers found property on him belonging to the woman, he was arrested, Nolte said.
