MANHATTAN — Not long after taking his official visit to Kansas State, Wesley Iwundu could tell he wanted to play for the Wildcats.
When that sentiment still existed two weeks later, the 6-foot-6 small forward from Houston gave them a verbal commitment.
Ive been feeling it in my heart for awhile now, Iwundu said. So I decided to make it official.
Iwundu also had scholarship offers from SMU, Miami, Richmond and Drake, but said last week that he was only considering K-State and SMU. It seemed like he would wait to make a final decision until after taking a scheduled visit to SMU on Sept. 28, but his trip to Manhattan and the idea of playing in the Big 12 sold him on K-State.
The Big 12 is the best conference, Iwundu said. It has the best competition. In order to get better youve got to play against the best. And the people at Kansas State are so great. I felt like I was already part of the family.
Iwundu becomes Bruce Webers third commitment for the class of 2013 along with Indiana small forward Alex Etherington and Wichita Falls, Texas shooting guard Marcus Foster.
