Expect a cool, rainy day in the Wichita metropolitan area today.

Forecasters say highs will only climb a few degrees above the overnight low, into the mid- to upper 60s. Winds will be out of the north in the teens, with gusts topping 25 miles an hour.

The best chances for rain in the Wichita area should come in the morning hours, though scattered showers could linger later in the day. Overnight lows are projected to fall into the low 50s, and then clouds should begin to disperse on Friday.

Highs Friday will warm into the mid-70s, forecasters say, with north winds touching double digits. A slight chance of showers returns Friday night.

The weekend should be dry and pleasant, with highs in the 70s.
