Opinion Line Extra (Sept. 13)

  • Published Thursday, Sep. 13, 2012, at 12 a.m.

Please tell the Republicans when they complain about the slow economic recovery that it is George Bush’s recession we are trying to recover from.

Hearing Republicans say that President Obama should take responsibility for the current economic condition of the country is like hearing a murderer say that his victims should take responsibility for still being dead – and then demanding that you give him his gun back.

I’m still waiting for Richard Crowson’s editorial cartoons about the numerous anti-God platform votes at the recent DNC. Don’t you know if that had happened at the RNC, we would have been subjected to endless days of mindless, witless, dumb cartoons?

President Obama seems to want to conquer our nation rather than unite our nation.

Why is it that when we hear comments about the jobless rate, the people doing the figuring fail to include the number of people who have given up looking for jobs and have become a burden on the welfare rolls? Oh, yes – it sounds better.

It seems from the Democrats’ comments in Opinion Line that they have forgotten we still have wars going on with militant Muslims.

So parents are worried their children are stressed and cranky in the morning because they are texting at night? Gee, here’s a thought: Man up, be the parent, and take the phone away at night. Problem solved.

If you ever wondered why students and even professional athletes can’t complete a sentence without using the ridiculous term “you know” five or six times, just listen to their parents.

This is in reference to a comment slamming Mark Mangino. I am not a KU football fan, but I must admit that no one has ever done the job better at KU than Mangino. Your Big 12 competition is thankful he was canned.

One of these nights I’m going to have to park my car in Old Town so I can get some cool-looking bullet holes put in it.

Let’s say there was a crime in progress, and a gun-toting “carry-and-conceal” good citizen opened fire and accidentally shot and killed an innocent bystander. Would the good citizen be charged with first-degree murder? It’s just a matter of time until this scenario occurs.

When you think television couldn’t get worse, Channel 12 sells vacuum cleaners at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. If I didn’t live in a one-story house I’d jump out the window.

I drove to Harper to visit the historic fountain in the center of town. I was dismayed to see garage sale signs posted on it. No respect for history.
