Butler County is getting an updated government website, one that should be easier to navigate, its manager says.

County Manager Will Johnson said the new website, designed by CivicPlus, will debut at 5 p.m. Friday. The county spent about $50,000 on the project.

“The website we have was developed internally,” Johnson said Tuesday. “The new website is more user-friendly and will be kept up-to-date and current.”

The county will maintain the website itself but will have an annual agreement with CivicPlus for upgrades and updates.

Johnson said the website’s address, www.bucoks.com, will remain the same.

The new website will give residents “better information about services we provide,” Johnson said. “It was time for us to move into the 21st century.”

A new “I want to” search feature will take users directly to specific information, and interactive online forms will let people conduct county business without leaving home, a news release said. The website also will allow people to ask questions or report concerns online.
