Wichita State volleyball tops Auburn

Wichita State’s volleyball team dropped the first set Friday against Auburn before rolling to a 3-1 victory at the SMU Classic in Dallas.

Sam Sanders had 13 kills and a .522 attack percentage for WSU, Emily Adney had 11 kills and Chelsey Feekin had 8 kills, 34 assists and 13 digs.

Auburn led the entire first set, winning 25-15. The Shockers scored the final three points of the second set on a kill by Feekin, an ace by Katie Reilly and a kill by Elizabeth Field for a 25-22 win. In the third set, WSU took control with a 5-0 run for a 19-13 lead and won 25-16. The Shocker dominated the fourth set, taking a quick 8-2 lead and going on to a 25-17 win.

WSU’s attack staggered through the first set, registering a negative attack percentage, then came on strong, hitting .373 in the final three sets.

The Shockers play Texas State on Saturday morning.
